“Mercedes” she repeated for the third time. I had asked God for help, even in the simple thing of remembering the many names coming at me, meeting so many new people in my first weeks in the country I now live. A few days later there she was, my neighbor, in front of me in line at the little store across from were we live. And there was her name in my mouth, “Mercedes!!” she seemed shocked..”you remembered my name!!”.
Then it hit me.. how much more does God remember her name…and mine!? You hear it in songs, “He knows my name..” but I had always just thought, well, my name is what my parents gave me, But of course God knows me by much more than just a title of what others call me. Think about this today.. He knows the name of our existence, the persons He has created us in His handiwork to be, each individually, He knows me better than I know myself, and he cares! I am praying that Mercedes and many more know God’s name and knows Him personally and how much He cares!
“How precious also are Your thoughts to me Oh God! How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them they would be more in number than the sand.”
Psalm 139: 17-18
